That's some good stuff the TM loads. I could never find them stocked anywhere, so for the price I just loaded Hevi.

There's always Hevi Shot,
16 gauge 1 1/4 oz #6 Hevi Shot- 1290 fps @ 40 yards. This will do the deed on anything that flies.

Silly. Just use # 3 or 4 steel and if you can shoot and hit what you are shooting at you will get your share of pheasants.

And along the way you might ruin a gun worth a few thousand bucks.

For years I have used size 6 lead shot at 1200 fps to great effect on pheasants. But now here in Kalifornia we are ordered to switch over to non-toxic shot for all game birds except on private "game farms". What do you folks suggest? Thanks...

A ring bulge is the most common problem when shooting steel in guns not meant for it. Almost purely cosmetic in nature when shooting an auto or pump but is a disaster for a double.

I agree completely.

If you shoot an older gun with a fixed full choke or a thin wall double you are better off shooting something other than steel.

Problem is a lot of 16's were built with very thin barrels for weight savings even pumps and autoloaders. Ring bulge may be cosmetic but it still has the potential to weaken a barrel.
