Golly , the last few yrs have been different t say the least ! 2yrs ago , coldest/snowiest ever . Last yr , the warmest ever except for December . This yr , 6 60* days in Feb - warmest EVER by 2 degrees . Bank fishing in a light shirt and sun shades . THIS MONTH , GOOD GRIEF !! 3 weekends ago , blizzard like skeet after the wettest round I've ever shot . 2 weekends ago , Sat. trap league in 30mph winds and snow . Following week , Weds , skeet in shirt and vest and sunshine , followed by 100mph winds and 150K without power in Rochester area that aft!! Last weekend , 15 degrees and 30mph winds for our dual skeet league . This past Monday , beginning of 48hrs of snow. wind to the tune of 20+inches of snow and 30+ winds .Power was still out in some places . The fishing place is skimmed over ice again . and , had just seen turkeys staring to pair/ group up . The trout have already spawned and will be back in the lake . Wanted to shoot the 49/16 this wkend , but the radical conditions precluded going that route ! Hope fully , the chicks haven't hatched , the doodles haven't gotten here and the trees aren't budded along far enough to be trashed again this yr .

In Wyoming we call it normal. Mother Nature always has PMS here.

we expect the last of the snow on the roof (slate shingles) to slide off this afternoon. It was cold/cool up until about a week ago when it went above freezing and has stayed there- just in time for spring.

You guys are failing one of the tests: you don't Trust the Groundhog.

On February 2, Punxsutawney Phil came out of his burrow and declared "6 more weeks of winter".

It's now 6 weeks (and one day) later and there is snow everywhere, more on the way in NY/NJ/PA this weekend. I was just busting an Irish-American friend about it might be cold enough to excuse him from marching in the Saint Patty's Day parade in a kilt, seeing as how it was 7 above here in Maine this morning.

Phil said "more winter". He is always right. When he doesn't seem to be right, it's not him. It's your perception that's off. The people not happy with Phil and his forecast seem to be the same people who don't trust their bird dog while hunting.

Trust The Groundhog.

Ol Mom Nature may be a bit*h, but sometimes she gets it just right. I took Bode and Rebel (GSP's) out to a local preserve yesterday morning for work on bobwhite. Started out in the high 30's, warming to low 40's, wind out of the south at about 7mph, sun shining through scattered puffy white clouds. Dog work with both my renegades was great, birds flew well and I got all 10 birds with 11 shots from my restocked 16 ga TriStar Brittany. Sometimes things are just the way we want them to be.

I don't mean to disrespect the opposite sex,but she is a woman. You never know.
Heard a pair of doodles two nights ago doing their mating aerial music. I love listening to them.
