I think the truth about lubes is.........not every lubricant matches up to the needs of every shotgun or in this case paper shredder.
Did you know that the motor oil being produced now isn't all that great for the older cars with the old style cams and hydraulic lifters? If you have older vehicles you really should be adding a supplement to the oil. The oil now is based on roller cams and lifters. GM has the oil supplements for their vehicles, not sure about the other manufacturers.
OIL is not OIL for everything under the sun.
BTW Lithium based grease actually sucks as a lubricant for roller or ball bearings. It does take heat and pressure fairly well. One use was for the contact points between brake shoes and backing plates way back when we had drum brakes because it would stay put and allowed the brakes shoes to slide easily. Supposedly it is still used in some CV joints. |
