When people sell shotguns why are all the choke tubes always missing? Must be like that one lone sock in the dryer.

My guess would be that they only use one or two (depending on the shotgun) and don't know where the others are. Of course if yours was a rhetorical question, forget I answered Razz

I wonder if the missing choke tubes are in that missing sock? (This is definitely a rhetorical question!)

Rhetorical question or not, it happens. I was looking at a used shotgun that should have had 5 choke tubes. It was part of an estate sale and the executor had no idea where they were or where to look for them.

I was looking at a 28 gauge SXS on the floor rack at Cabela's and noted someone had removed both choke tubes. Sometimes they aren't missing just removed.

That would be a very bold move on the part of a thief, taking them out in broad daylight on the show room floor. Possibly Cabela's removed them for safe keeping?

That is my guess, when someone buys the gun, they get the tubes.

I used to take the tubes and put them all in a bag with same gauges . I had accumulated so many I decided to put them back in original boxes . If something had happened to me my wife probably would had thrown them out along with the original boxes .

Griffon,
Most times the Screw in Chokes are not passed on at resale because the owner fails to properly identify them and store them with the individual gun they belong too.

Also when an owner passes away their better half most times has no idea about which guns they belong to, because they were never shown.

Lack of Discipline most times due to laziness.
