I attended this event last year with my new-to-me Merkell 16 ga. double mod 8. I shot 23/25 at trap winning a third prize glass beer mug. This was the first I shot this gun which seems to fit me perfectly! I went out this time to shoot and to finally pick up my prize mug. I did fire 20 more trap birds until the event ran out of targets. Only missed two of them.
I am now on my Church board and couldn't get out until afternoon. The match director advised that I might be too late but a muzzleloading shotgun event would follow. To hedge my bets I dug out my 12 ga. Navy arms double percussion bundook.
Dressed up in the same kilt as last year, I arrived in time to join a 10 shot ML trap event. WELL! My 7/10 was enough to win myself another beer mug, this time marked "Black Powder First Place".
A while back, in another forum, we had a lengthy discussion on what constitutes a Prince of Wales grip. I searched the internet for hours looking for pictures of Edward VII's shotguns. I found pictures of him shooting, but none of the guns by themselves.
Since you were at an Edwardian event, perhaps you have access to photos of HRH Edward Albert?
Here is my contact for the shoot. Feel free to contact him;
This is a personal invitation to the Edwardian Shooting Party June 5th at the Victoria Fish & Game Protective Association 700 Holker Place. As you know this is a celebration of the Classic double barrel shotgun but all types of shotguns are welcome. We hope that people will make an effort to come dressed in either Victorian or Edwardian outfits but everyone are welcome, no matter what you ware.
There is a couple of changes from last year! There will be no “High Tea – Lunch” but there will be the usual weekend canteen there with food and drinks. Or you can bring your own lunch. There will not be any Prizes this year. Just come and shoot and have fun.
Upon arrival just go to the Trap and 5 Stand and sign up for a round - $6.00 a round of 25. You can shoot as many rounds as you like. You can shoot smokeless or black powder. There will be a BP muzzeloading shoot in the afternoon after all the other shooting is over just like last year.
Shooters meeting at 9:45 shooting starts at 10:00 bring your own ammo.
If you have any questions e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 250-478-0069
Please tell everyone you know who might be interested in coming!
Hope to see you there!
Considering the Edwardian era was 1901 - 1914, there are two guns available to me that I could use that would qualify, both are Parkers, one 12 ga, the other 16 ga. I have a white tie/tails that my wife's dad wore when he and my wife's mother were married; but I think I'm about 30 pounds from fitting in it. Now to try an deal with the RCMP to get the guns across the border, and worse still, to deal with the US government to convince them that I'm not "importing" some guns into the US, I guess the feds don't want any competition. My what a bunch of forms!!!
