steve f,
Thanks for the chart, I copied it for my guestimations also. My gun has a 57377 SN that makes the gun made somewhere between 1895 and 1896 as the guestimation chart goes. I do wish there were some real J.P Sauer SN MFG record dates available however.

steve just where did you originally acquire this document? What book or company is it from.

I believe Raimey/ellenbr (his user names on various forums) had it posted somewhere long ago and I copied it. Not really sure where it came from originally. Most of the Sauer records didn't survive WWII, but apparently there are some original Sauer records in private hands salvaged during or just after WWII, my impression was that the list came from those.

steve f,
I believe I interfaced with Raimey/ellenbr at one time on a much different forum, he was very knowledgeable and helped me with dating one of my Great Grandfather 16 Gauge Sauer guns. I also believe he has another Sauer Company SN manufacturing Chart/document that dates the older guns a little differently. Evidently the Sauer SN's do not run as most people would think. I did not keep the information, I probably should have, especially now that I have acquired this particular gun with SN one digit off of his early gun.

67 galaxie,

One of my buddies had a 66 or 67 Ford galaxie 500 XL Convertible White with Red Rolled and Pleated seats. Now that was a serious machine, and the girls just loved it. Great vehicle no doubt about it.

Thanks for the nice comment on the purchase of my J.P. 16.

67,
Very serious P Cars, no doubt about it, lots of wives were found in those Cars.

I have a pair of Sauer Royals and they both have Krupp barrels. Mine are post war because they read W. Germany. They also don’t have cheek pieces or sling swivels on them. I gather they were made for the export market, but just a guess. Most I have seen have very similar Arabesque engraving. Unfortunately mine have single triggers which I am not a fan of.

Good Hunting,
Mike

Mike,
Mine has straight grip stock, sling swivels and double triggers. Attractive and well balanced very tightly choked the Mod shoot tighter than the full full on paper.

Pudelpointer,

Mike does your J.P.Sauer double gun also have cocking indicators on each Side Lock, similar to the gun I just acquired or are they missing. Did you examine the prior posted list to help determine just when the gun was made. Interested in the age of your particular J.P. Sauer gun.

If you can post a picture of your Double Gun!

Pudelpointer,

Post War with cocking indicators, way cool. Is the gun engraved in any way,
and does it have auto safe rest when the Breech is broken open, or is it like most Euro guns that the shooter must reset the safety manually himself.

We definitely need some pictures of this gun!
