I just bought a Parker 16 gauge DHE on a one frame, 32 inch barrels with 95% original black, 90% original finish stock, 70% case color, 36 points left, 30 points right, double triggers, great trigger pulls. It had one ejector not working right and is at the gunsmith now. Perfect bores, .658 and .660. There is a still some case color on the standing breech - with the right side having less than the left. 14-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 2-5/8, 212,xxx serial number (1925 I think). It has a pad. I don't know if it came with the pad or with a skeleton butt plate. Perfect screws.

I will shoot this gun at doves a few days a year and maybe a day or two of sporting clays. It is absolutely cool.

I didn't need it - I was at the Tulsa gun show and fell in love. Did the worst job of haggling I have done since I bought my first new car in 1979. I had my buddy flinststeel with me and he checked the gun. We both know the gun is untouched.

I am going to have to enroll in an impulse control class. I now have 5 Parkers, an Ithica, two english guns, two german SxSguns, four over and unders, a hammer gun, a little CZ 28 SxS, and 3 semiautos. Mostly 16s with a few 12s mixed in and one 20. I have bought 4 guns since I decided I was going to stop. Watch for me on TV on "Intervention".

Post the full serial number over on the PGCA site and see what else there is to learn about this gun. A D grade with long barrels like that has to have been custom ordered and I'd bet there is some neat info if the order books for that gun are intact....

I have a 1 frame Parker 16 and it's a delight but the factory 26" barrels are shorter than I would like.

Jeff I will post over on the Parker forum when I have the pictures ready to go. In the meantime I emailed my buddy to look it up in his serialization book - I think that is what it is called.

I expect an intervention any day now so if I go internet silent I am probably away at Camp Decompulsive.

Got the gun back from the gunsmith. Pictures as promised!

If you double click the pictures they get bigger.

You can actually tell the birds on the floorplate are pheasant - not the usual Parker mystery bird!

Can you pick it out of the lineup in my gunsafe?

I mentioned to the BOSS back in November that my safe was full and that I had a couple of guns that I might move some time. Since then I have not "moved" any and have gotten the sterlywroth with 2 extra sets of barrels and the Ithaca M37. I am looking at a 16 ga browning with straight stock too (like I need another 16 ga citori) Guess I need to join your intervention group - well maybe not.....

Doc 16 I have a strategy for you. I started talking about moving my gunsafe down into the den/MyRoom. Ruth Anne decided immediately that it was the wrong color and we would have to get another one with the correct color - the paint chips are out and search is on! Surprised

from the BOSS for a new gun safe. Hence the urgency in looking for new guns (or getting help through intervention Confused

I'm looking for a "horizontal" safe this time. Liberty or someone used to make a nice fire-"proof" 16-20 gun case (2 rows of 8 I think) that had a self-assisted top opener. Kind of like a lid on the back of a pick-up. Yes, you had to lift out the top row to get to the bottom row, but I have some guns that I don't shoot much (Dad's and Granddad's) that could go on the bottom). This safe also had a nice cushion top on it so it could set in my home office (NO revdocdrew, the Chancellor won't permit firearms on campus - although I could make the faculty sit on it Laughing

).

Any of you have a safe like this? Drawbacks? who makes it?
