Gentlemen,

My Texas good friend Don Moody and I both owned incredible 1913, 16 Gauge L.C Smith Hammer guns. I Grouse and Turkey hunted with mine and Don hunted Quail and Rio Turkey with his.

Thru the years we became close, because of hunting with our Double Guns and Fly Fishing. A few years back my buddy moved upstair to Hunt and Fly Fish with the Supreme Architect. His Grandson Wheeler has his Grandfathers Guns and Fly Rods to continue passing down thru their family.

Because of the haunting memories every time I picked up the L.C. Smith 16 gauge Hammer Gun, my gun was gifted to a younger Grouse hunter, to hunt with and to pass down thru his family. My hope is he does just that, however one really never knows, the younger Grouse hunters of today seem to be quite different than those of my era.

I would never get away with draping a gun, let alone a dead bird, over the back of the living room set. Shocked

But seriously, nice gun, nicer birds and hopes for the future.

Dave in Maine,

It has been said that I am a heathen, took my wife over 20 years to get me to wear undies, however I do clean up well. The expensive throw, and chair were not effected and of course the gun was Super Cleaned before the pictures of the Grouse and gun were taken. When Sampson our Small Munsterlander male decided to pay a visit during the shoot, my wife did give me the evil eye. However all went well and nothing was damaged or oiled.

Thank you for sharing. Touching post and excellent pictures. I hope whomever now has your gun follows through with your wishes. Sorry for your loss...

(I see you're a Remington fan as well as Smith. Wink )

16er,

You bet I am a fan of Remington Western Art work, Guns and Bronze Statues. Hope you have a few also.

I can only hope the younger man uses and passes the L.C. Smith Hammer Gun on to one of his boys.

Ditto, that was my first thought. But nice looking gun and beautiful grouse.

Good Hunting,
Mike

lowgun,

Moving our Churchill home to Murrysville, Pa to a nice big Ranch House, we will also still own the log cabin mountain home in Potter/Tioga, Pa.

I like the log cabin and its setting a lot better.

Stack 16,

Believe me I would rather live in Potter/Tioga County, Pa all year around, in my Log Cabin. I am there more than 8 months out of the year anyway.

However my wife still has her obligations to the Symphony's here in the Pittsburgh area. She is still on the board of these symphonies and we need to keep a home in the Pittsburgh area.

Our new Brick Ranch House is fantastic and far enough outside of Pittsburgh to keep me from going crazy.

Thank you gentlemen for the nice comments about being Veteran friendly. Both our homes will always be Veteran Friendly. At the Log Cabin we teach Fly Fishing and Train Veterans Gun dogs. At the Murrysville home we will have a Bar Game Room with Complete O Gauge operating Trains, for the Veterans families to visit during the Christmas season.
