Haven't used it for cleaning the outside of my guns, but the stuff really cleans the bores. I thought the bores looked good on my vintage guns, but after using the Frontier product, they shine like new. I'm guessing there was still lead in the bores that didn't come out with a bore brush, it's out now for sure. I've read where some use a drill in cleaning bores, but the stuff works fine for me wrapping it around a bore brush and doing it by hand. Cheap enough, give it a try.

Nope, sorry. The stuff only costs $6, I sprang for it based on positive reviews over on Doublegunshop. Downside is it arrives in a wad and you have to hack off a piece and wrap it around a bore brush, not the most elegant looking looking product. Looks like a wad will probably clean six double guns. Then again once I get a piece on a brush I clean both barrels on a gun, ymmv. |

Steve I've also been using the Frontier pads. There was a little spot of rust on an O/U I bought and it removed it with minimal damage to the surrounding bluing. I'm going to try it in the bores of my shotguns to give them a good cleaning. It's an interesting product. I also read the positive reviews on Doublegunshop. |

Is it head and shoulders above good old No.9 for bores? Where do you buy it? |

I put a link to the website in my first post, at the bottom. It is better than #9 used alone. Looks like it cleans off old lead fouling and plastic residue from shotcups that really isn't visible. I have no connection to the product. Since it was so cheap I decided to give it a try and it worked for me. Also, to repeat, the bores on my guns were in good shape to begin with, looked even better afterwards. |
