I can add a couple of notes. I know the guy and the gun. Doc Dogwood is a D.V.M, who runs a stellar small animal practice here in Traverse City. And I know he takes wonderful care of his patients and his firearms too.

The Merkel 1620 is an iconic bird gun. "Carries like a 20, Hits like a 12".The 6 Briley thin wall choke tubes add significant value to the package and makes this gun wonderfully versatile , as well. Great buy on a great 16 Ga. double gun, right here.

Greg,

I had posted a link here for Dogwood right after he listed that on the UJ. Apparently, UJ doesn't allow a non-registered user to view the ad and it caused some consternation for those here who were "supposedly" interested. Your link works fine for me but I'm registered on UJ.

Well, that's interesting.........

Doc Dogwood became a registered member here over two weeks ago and has been unable to post this NM 1620 FS for all of that time on this forum.......... And I saw this with my own eyes. "Welcome to our newest member dogwood, etc etc" Sad

On UJ, non-members are supposed to be able to view Swap&Trade topic, plus contact those posters via their profile, etc.

That's all pretty disappointing because this is a very nice gun!

Natty,

Skeettx's response when he tried to use the link I had posted-

"I tried BUT it says

Sorry, there is a problem
You do not have permission to view this content."

I'm pretty certain Brad has it set up so that only those registered to the board can access the Swap & Trade section. I know only contributing members can list items.

Not sure what the issue is with Dogwood posting here since he registered and was confirmed. Try contacting s_long I believe he's taking care of board functions when he can.

In the meantime, if someone here was actually serious about the gun, it shouldn't be an issue to register on UJ.

Question
What is the "handle" for Doc Dogwood on this site
I searched for him, but he was not found.
Maybe I typed something wrong??

Yes you need to be registered on UJ to see swap & trade forum.

Beautiful gun.

Mike,

He was registered here on Aug 9 as "dogwood". And he has told me that he has tried to post his 1620 on this board "X" times on here by himself since, and has been unable to do so. And he's a pretty tech savvy guy. I am glad Greg posted the link. I can see it, but I am registered on UJ.

UJ "used to be" setup so that visitors could see items posted on S&T. And contact the person posting items FS directly. There was a big software upgrade recently, and pretty sure things like that have changed quite a bit. But that seems to be self defeating; there are just gobs of "guests" on UJ all the time. This is a case in point.

I just used the "Doc" label in an attempt to introduce him a little bit to the guys here. And IMO, the D.V.M. degree part adds context . Sorry for the confusion.

I also was unable to check out the post on the Upland Journal. Can someone tell me whether it might have a straight stock and a single trigger?

Sorry Dan- it's a twice-triggered gun.
