Enjoy. I was all set to head to my camp up by Marquette and I decided to hold off. Going to be in the mid 80’s up there the next few days and then it cools off. So I am looking at Monday.

Good Hunting,
Mike

Love your enthusiasm Grousepointer. Here in MN, we're pretty much looking at the same weather as Chicago posted. Seems like August and September weather have flipped with each other.

64 degrees here. Threatening rain. Heavy t-storms last night & 2" of rain.
Packing truck for tomorrow locally. Sunday it's over to the Chequamegon Natl. Forest for some fishing early & hunting later in the day for Grouse.

Link is the forecast for next several days for Ashland, WI.

The day started with heavy fog, so thick in fact that most blizzards have better visibility. Began the hunt at 0805, already very warm but first day requires hunting anyway. In the first 15 min the dogs were birdy and then the first lock up. A family group of 4.
My 7yo male (who was a rescue dog) locked on and my 3 yo female honouring in classic fashion. I walked in to the focus point and then the alders exploded with 3 birds. I swung on one and my Astra 16 bore spoke once 2017 bird one fell to Mother Earth. The dogs went for the fetch and I opened my chamber to reload when bird 4 lifted and escaped.
I continued and 30 min later my female bumped a single bird that I didn't get a shot at. 2 hrs later both dogs locked up and pointing in different directions. I moved in and 1 bird went up, I swung and it was blocked by the thick alders; I waited and in a few moments and 2 more birds got up, I tracked on a perfect going away unobstructed clear shot and missed with first and second barrels.
We finished hunting at 1250 hrs when the temp and humidex hit 28 Celsius. I was content with day one. My pics are up on my Facebook group Canadian Upland Hunting. I will try to post some here.

Well done.
Going to try it. Rain looks to be taking a break for awhile today till later in the day.
It's cool & blustery here. Will go Inland away from Lake Superior to get calmer conditions.
