I chased some pheasants in Pennsylvania during the first few days of the season. Shot some birds with an 11-87 12 gauge and shot some with a M37 Featherlight in 16 gauge. My lab is 2.5 and the GSP is 2.

This season has started slow for me, but I have had a couple great outings for pheasant:

Uncle Dan Fan,

Your 1st picture of the Setter on point near the tree is some kind beautiful, nice gun and birds also!

Pine Creek/Dave

Here is a little LeFever/Ithaca eye candy for ya, with the SpredR shells the gun really put the birds down nicely.

Hey Mark

Give Brier an ear rub from me for a job well done.

Done Very Happy

Here's a couple pics from a duck hunt yesterday. Had to leave Briar at home unfortunately. Tried out a little 8' sneak boat. Sits a bit too high, so will sell it and get something else, probably a marsh rat. Gun is a Husqvarna 103C 12ga that I recently finished doing the wood work on. Still need to refinish the metal. First time out with it, and it really did the job.

UncleDanFan,

Great job on the H, Hammer Gun Stock, just fantastic! I have an original H&H 20 gauge Hammer Gun that needs the stocks refurbished, your fantastic picture makes me want to have it done even more.

Pine Creek/Dave

Here are a few pictures of the LeFever/Ithaca eye candy, with a few birds she took.

Wow! That is really a work of art Dave. I don't think I've ever seen an Ithaca dolled up like that. Very cool, and even better that you're using it instead of making it a closet queen.

Glad you like the Husky. You mentioned H&H's, and speaking of those, I just added an 2" extension to a checkered butt on a Holland & Holland Royal 20 that turned out great:

UncleDanFan,

Now that is a work of art, just fantastic job. Your stock work is absolutely beautiful!
Freddie Brunner out in CA or Rich Painter here in Pa do all my Gun work and I got to hand it to ya, yours equals both of theirs. Simply Great stock work.

Glad you like the old LeFever/Ithaca, 12 Gauge Gun on the 16 type frame. Everybody keeps trying to tell me the gun was dolled up after market, however I have no actual proof of the gun being Engraved & Stocks Carved after market or at the factory. Still looking for documented proof of either. Wish I could come up with the original bill of sale from the 1st owner. In reality I probably never will. I do wish L.C. Smith's older brother would have forced Ithaca to keep better factory records when he helped start the Ithaca company as major partner. Unfortunately not the case at Ithaca. A unique LeFever/Ithaca double gun, glad I acquired it.

Hey all, a bit OT (but there are birds in this thread) This weekend was our Deer Gun Opener, my son Jim, daughter Liz and myself all drew Doe tags. Opening day was windy as all get out (25 to 30 mph), but I was lucky and tagged out at 4pm. The rest of the weekend was great weather. Jim wasn't able to fill until Saturday and Liz still has to fill hers. Still have two weeks. Hope she can fill hers.

Myself and my doe (nothing huge, but average)

I used my Old Style Ruger M77RSI in 7mm-08

Jim and his deer (a button buck) he used his Browning A-Bolt in .25WSSM. He made a great shot on his, 260 yards!

I did bring a shotgun with and hunted birds while the kids were trying to fill there tags. I limited out and used my daughters 12ga Zabala Brittany. Jim carried the shotgun today, but nothing in the bag.

Great weekend overall. Sure did enjoy my hunting partners, best in the world!

Best,

Greg
