I had my best season in many years out in southeast ND. My four legged partner, Sadie and I bagged 18 pheasants with my old style 16ga 1100. It has a improved cylinder fixed choke. My GWP Sadie made it easy to stay close and down the birds. We still walked about 10 miles a day to claim our birds. No pay to play in our outing, some private land and some walk in areas gave us plenty to cover. We both came home tired and very satisfied with our adventure. The forecast for birds stated it would be down by 60%. We hit the birds in good numbers, but we really worked for them.

Nice shooting with the old 1100 16 Gauge, great stuff. Also glad you did not have to use payed for land. I also hunt 99% of the time on PGC and SFL here in Pa and on the paper company land up in VT and NH.

IMO the stocked stuff really never equals the fun you have hunting wild birds. We do have some hold over Pheasant that have also reproduced here, I do hunt a few of them each year also.

I am undecided as to whether it will continue now that Pa wants us to purchase a $26.00 Pheasant Stamp, I am mostly a Grouse and Woodcock hunter, now that the great wild Pheasant Program here in the Lancaster County area of Pa is log gone.
