I havent bought a 16 in a while but ended that this week.

A 16 gauge Laurona boxlock has joined the flock. Boxlock, extractors, sideclips, double triggers, pistol grip, 28 1/2 in barrels, Full and Mod chokes. The H1 code says 1962 to me. The gun is in great shape with no dents or dings, Also love the sling swivels.

The trigger pull is near perfect and the gun fits. Oddly the front bead is about 1/4 the size of that on an 870/1100.

I was very impressed with the worksmanship on this gun. Not a British Best but not priced that way either. I did have to tighten the cocking lever screws but that was all.

Looking forward to shooting it but that will have to wait as it is deer season here.

Pictures are still an issue but I shot some clays with the gun.

The positives are the gun shoots where I look and during the round there were no mechanical issues at all. Gun functioned flawlessly. Barrels seemed well regulated, safety worked, no FTF's!

However upon closer inspection at home I discovered that one of the two action pins had migrated out about 1/16th of an inch. I used a nylon pin and pounded it back into place. The box lock has a 2 pin action.

I do not believe this will be a problem in the field because I seldom shoot more than a handful of shells in a hunting situation. Also the gun will not be a high volume clays gun.

Any one else have a similar experience?

That design is known for that issue. I have solved that by replacing the pin with one that is slightly tapered toward the direction of the creeping. It is easy fix because the new pin is used to push out the old pin, once the hammers are let off.
