Made a late season combo run to West Texas for quail, then back thru Arkansas after the thaw for the last few days of duck season.
In the twilight years as a hunter, for me, means appreciating every part of the process - 1500 miles just me and the dog, timed to make dinner with my son, just off-work, then sunrises, good coffee, desert air, a dog who loves her job, and does it well, a few great friends, and wild birds, in wild country, and the wilder the better.

Nice. Very nice. I am wishing I could make the New Mexico run next week, especially after seeing your pictures. Scaled quail are very special. Money just isn't there this time. Three days of chukar left here, then it's time to start pondering next season's possibilities.
Continue enjoying all aspects of the experience, it really is as important as you have stated. |

Alan, you get A+ for effort, especially the drive, and the rest was gravy. Beautiful photos, better memories. Gil |

Man, that looks great. I'm already yearning for next year's duck season. Thanks for the booster! |

I don't post feedback often enough on all the great photos and stories shared here.
Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Hoping this fall to do some bird hunting outside of Michigan for the first time, maybe I'll be able to finally return the favor! |
