Floridas site is a tad bit confusing. The zones I saw are all private land hunting (put and take I assume) with what little open land looks like some type of lottery draw. Might just be a pleasant walk without a gun. |

Ever consider going to New Mexico for scaled quail? No canned hunts, private land can be avoided entirely, and crowding is not much of an issue. They do run more than bobs, but are a riot to hunt. I may be there hunting scalies in mid Jan. |

Got back recently from ND. Never before hunted truly wild pheasants with sharptails thrown in. Those big grand pheasants took a fair amount of killing. Had a point in a hedgerow which produced a hen followed by a jack rabbit the size of a beagle. Didn't know whether to shoot or run. By the time I decided the rabbits after burners kicked in and was gone. Saw some amazing wildlife.
All woods shooting at home enjoyed the wide open prairie shooting. Managed to still miss a few though, sun was in my eyes. Farmers were very hospitable towards us out of towners. Great trip hope to go back next fall thus the wife picked the destination this time.
PS you did well on your KS trip.Give Rusty a biscuit for me. |
