Wondering if anyone has ever seen any loaded ammo or reload data to make 1 1/8 oz spreaders?

Polywad makes a 1oz spreader in 16ga,
Load whatever 1 1/8oz load you are using now, insert the spreader, might have to play around a little to get it to fit,

Polywad Spred-R’s can be easily used to make 1 1/8 oz. 16 gauge spreader loads.

Wouldn't using the Polywad spreader device in a 1-1/8 ounce shot load raise the pressure of the load?

You should remove 1/8 oz. of shot to any load when you use a Polywad Spred-R, according to Polywad.

So you should use a 1 1/4 oz. load remove the 1/8 oz. to get an 1 1/8 oz. spreader load.

The Spred-R will increase pressure but it really depends on the load as to how much. The most I have ever seen was about 1,500 PSI, which isn't a big deal. I would have no trouble using an existing 1 1/8 oz. load using Longshot or 800-X in a Cheddite hull with the Spred-R.

I would be skeptical about using a 1 1/4 oz. load with Blue Dot/571/HS7 for something like this, especially when it gets cold. The 1/8 oz. of shot builds more pressure than the Spred-R does.

Dogchaser-good comments on the spreader payload. I have stuck to using a 1-1/8 ounce data and loading just 1 ounce of shot. I' also found I like the golf tee type spreader unit best. I can't remember who sells these!

There was a good report on spreader loads in a magazine about 15 years ago. It may have been Shooting Sportsman. I wish I still had this. In summary, the tests showed that the golf tee spreader units were most consistent. Spreaders made the most difference with tight chokes. And, all chokes resulted in about the same open pattern when using spreader loads.

I don't think an 1/8 ounce of shot will make much difference at close range where spreaders are used. I imagine this is at 25 yards or less.

I don't use spreaders for hunting anymore, now that good huntable, woodcock habitat is basically gone from CT.

I do use them for Sporting for clays 20 yards and closer.
