A good wood guy will fix it up so well it will be unnoticeable. |

Yea, I almost threw up in my mouth.
But, I knew going into the game the old gal might be a little fragile.
Dave, I wasn't even shooting it. Getting ready for a fishing trip to the Green River. Reaching into the gun safe for some English reels. Accidentally nudged it with my arm. It was up front, barrels down. Tumbled out onto a carpeted floor and that was that.
Better to have it happen here than in a S. Dakota corn field. I only shoot low pressure re-loads or RST through it.
I have a really good friend who is only about an hour drive from Turnbull restoration's place. I can give him the gun in CO this summer and he will drive it up.
I will also look at other options. Uncle Dan Fan?
My fallback is a 1926 16ga. J.V. Needham (Greener made)
Ain't life a kick in the ass!!!!

Just sucks! Sometimes the kick in the ass is hard enough to lift your feet of the ground a little. |

Whoops, my friend was mistaken. Turnbull is a 6 hour drive from him.
Looking for recommendations for a stock guy!

the Davis was split thru in the opposite direction when I got it . used tape over it for a while . An elderly guy used to advertise "" cracked , busted or disgusted , we can fix anything ! and he did ! he's passed now ) He made the repair disappear - the LEAST noticeable thing on the gun . Has been shot plenty - no problems . Uncle Dan Fan or DES - +2 - they'll fix it . |

Ouch. Shame it happened. That kind of slap would likely have broken a new stock as well. I bought a project Lefever last year with a similar break. I figured someone fell with it, but now am leaning toward it being dropped, especially in light of the other damage. Best of luck with your "hunting partner's recovery". |

I had the same experience with a FOX. The stock maker told me " they don;t handle lateral stress to well when applied quickly." May be he was right. |

That is really too bad but, the break is in the right place, the checkered grip. A repair can be done and the checkering refreshed to make the repair disappear. A fillet inletted under the guard tang for strength and good as new. Very nice looking gun by the way. |

What part of human nature makes us want to stop and stare at something like that?
BTW when I expanded the photo ( of course I did) it looks like the lower tang has a slight dogleg to it, hopefully it was in the original state.
