roadkill has been very helpful in years past helping me put together loads to use up my reload inventory.
but alas, it is somewhere in boxes, and lost in cyberspace.

this is what i have to work with.

fed purple hulls.
4756 powder
sp16 wads.
lead 8's.

anyone have a load out there for 1 1/8oz or 1oz that can be used with these materials?
i know there may be an issue with the wad bases and hulls, so fill me in on options as well. thanks.

My mistake, Win primers and Federal hulls, NOT Winchester hulls.
Sorry to have misled you.

I wish I had more 4756, I only load it in 10 ga. now that it's been given the axe. I can use other powders for 16 ga. even if 4756 was really good for that purpose too. For what I use it for in 10 bore, I have found no substitute although I suspect very strongly that Longshot would be about the same, but there is no data for what I need.

ive used that 1oz load w/27gr and it peef poops.
i stepped it up to 28 and it still poops on occasion.
seems the 1 1/8oz load fills in the space better, reducing peef poops.
its one of the reasons i use 1 1/8oz loads all the time! lol.
doesnt bother me, most is shot out of a rem m11 and it absorbs it just fine. thanks.

Lyman 5th, pages 180 & 181, has 3 loads for that powder, hull, and wad.

SR 4756 27.0grs WIN209 Rem SP16 Fed Purple w/paper basewad 1oz lead
1231fps 7,200psi

SR 4756 26.0grs FED209A Rem SP16 Fed Purple w/paper basewad 1 & 1/8oz lead
1231fps 7,800 (I use this one for target practice with 8s)

SR 4756 23.5grs FED209A Rem SP16 Fed Purple w/paper basewad 1 & 1/4oz lead
1210fps 10,000

My typing is weak, double check the manual b4 trusting me. If someone else has the book, please chime in...

Dug around and found a box of the load I did. 23.0 of 4756 in fed hull, aa16 claybuster wad,w209,1oz 71/2's. Remember shot well, but dirty. Some dished crimps. Didn't record what the speed is supposed to be.

Thanks bobski, unfortunately we will probably be dealing with a move of my father-in-law to a Sr living center (next three or four weekends are lost). I'll gladly take a rain-check for later in the year if that is available.

I just bought a bunch of Federal GM paper 12 loads, and Estate 16s, too. That was before we got the diagnosis.

Thanks for the invite,

--Doug
