personally its why i don't hunt or fish.

That is an odd reason not to hunt or fish, but if it works it works.

I can't trust a man who owns firearms but does not hunt Razz
Also, can't hit clays for @#%$, but do seem to get a fair amount of birds
Shocked

I can hunt. I just choose not to anymore.
I can fish, but I choose not to anymore.
a dead deer or pouch full of birds wont put out my home on fire or visit me when im old in a ret-home.
I chose to invest in futures.
people won out.

now, as far as clay is concerned, we don't care if you can hit clays. we made this meet for 16ga guys to meet each other and just have a good time.
I certainly do, twice a year.
wife and I love relaxing on the farm and we hate to see this club and range go to waste, so we open it up for visitors. its that simple.
be glad to have you guys come. but I understand distances and hunting. its the joy of being American. you get to do what you want.

so for those that will be hunting, have a great hunt.

i'll be having a great retirement with my buddies.

that's what we are trying to do here.
not debate hunting and its lure.
afterall, this is a 16ga forum, not a hunting website.
but in the short time ive been here, ya coulda fooled me. Wink

had a group from Pensacola come visit in 2014. had a blast. florida aint so far.

Byron,
im redesigning the 3rd turkey relay.
3rd relay was going to be for the 16ga.com folks. theres not enough to fill a squad and im going to have to put 12ga shooters in it.

go ahead and drop your bag of 16ga wads as a prize.
one of the shooters is offering a pumpkin pie in its place.

rking22 is going to change his prizes from 16ga to 12ga.

makes no sense to have 16ga prizes. if you or rking22 won, all youd end up doing is giving yourselves back your own prizes. lol.

If not for birds, public lands, and dogs I would sell my shotguns in a heartbeat. Most definitely would never have "joined" this forum.
But that's just me..............
Hope your event is enjoyable, bobski.

Room for all, I like going to the shoots to meet other like minded folk. Makes sense that this board is hunt focused as the small framed 16 is all about hunting. Kinda like 28ga, a small lite gun for the woods. Thing is ,I hunt with the same guys I grew up with, we hunt with 16s and 28s, till the doves get spooky anyway. By going to shoots like this, i get to meet others that have a similar outlook and afinity to the hunting guns. I expect to see hunting guns here, not "race" guns that plainly wont work well in the field. Easy decision for me, our bird season starts in Nov. Competitive american sheet and trap bore me to tears, but a few hunters can find ways to keep it interesting.
Maybe we can show some of those 12ga shooters the virtue of a 16ga field gun 😁

I went out to the Flint Hills this morning with LC Smith and my golden retriever to hunt some prairie chickens on some of the WIHA land that the state leases for the public to hunt.
The area I went to had several sections of land that allowed public access but 90% of them were also full of cattle! You might be able to hunt a small part of the property where the cattle were not present in but after several miles of walking we found no chickens and got nothing but tired!
i will just have to drive farther next time as 80 miles to the edge of the Flint hills wasn't enough since any chickens that might be in the area wanted nothing to do with anywhere the cattle had been.
I should have stayed close to home and gone to the nearby marsh for the last weekend of early Teal season. Sad

The Superlight Feather never yielded a bird this fine day - yet it was a very fine day.
