I think it’s mostly about distance and competing activities impacting the ability to take part. If you lived in Texas I’d be out for distance. I’m still planning to make Jeff’s Event in May but I’m willing to go the greater distance and cost there cause I’ve been before and, weather allowing, seems to have some legs under it that could lead to a long life. That is as long as the Hawaiian shirts are not used in advertising.

just remember guys...this isn't a corporate sponsored event, this is an invite to my home. come if you can and if you cant, i understand.
im not in competition with anyone, since im not a business. nor am i a private s.clays range. im just a fun shoot/camp out and relax a bit, kind of place. you all seem to have a pretty close knit group. i like that. i just want to offer something to the group and support your members the best i can further south. this range on my farm was going to seed and i hated to see it wasted. so i invite as many as i can to use it some. I understand its not much of a venue compared to your full blown sporting clays annual event, but what I have, I offer from my heart. its all I have.

based on the names already saying no, over 1/2 were due to hunting. another 1/2 may make apr, but its kind of questionable being its so close to mays shoot. im not the kind of guy to take wind out of the sails of another shoot. nor is it my style to lure people away from other venues.
im just offering those close to me an alternative to long distances and expense.....to just visit and have a good time. i know im not well known yet. but i think once you attend, youll see im more interested in remembering your names than i am your scores and achievements.
ive been doing this with others for 8 years now. it seems to have a good following. i occasionaly get ffl's to attend and set up displays, so if you all want a swap meet, have at it.
i certainly enjoyed the visitors over the years. most were beginners. so, having some real life true 16ga shotgunners with skills, will be a joy and a welcome change.
hope this makes sense.

I have been to the two most recent shoots at Bob's place at Vanzant and have thoroughly enjoyed the fun and fellowship with the friends I made there. At the first shoot I went to last fall I compared it to the fun I had at the 16ga shoot in St. Paul and I told them about the fun we had there.
I know the date is not good for a lot of you from northern areas because your hunting seasons have started. Here in Missouri and Kansas and farther south most hunting seasons don't start until November so we could all use some shooting and fun without having to clean game at the end of the day yet.
Also the fact that a lot of people are not will to drive 600+ miles for a shoot like some of us do so this gives them an option for fun close to home. Bob and Sarah are great folks that welcome new friends and enjoy what is becoming like a family reunion. There is plenty of room for the family to grow and I would like to see this event grow like Jeff's spring shoot up north. After all traveling south in the fall is not exactly a new idea Wink

I have been upland and waterfowl hunting for 40+ years. Clay shooting is a new game for me. Looking forward to this event. Hope to learn a lot and meet some other 16GA die-hards...

does anyone have access to 16ga.com stuff?
if anyone wants to donate a window sticker for my clubhouse door, feel free. I'd be glad to display it.

guys...if you can, sign up and pm me for a slot early. 5 months early is not too soon.
many are wondering why they cant pay at the door.
we have found that those that truly want to come, schedule their busy lives around it in advance.
those that are not so sure, wait....and allow lifes busy schedule to bump it out.
another reason is if you just show up...I cant guarantee there will be a slot for you to shoot. especially if a hoard of you all show at the same time. remember, im just a small skeet trap range with only 2 fields and the shoot program is on a time line.
additionally, I need to make table reservations in town for the food fest Saturday night. the owners are kind enough to reserve a huge section of their floor for us, waving off other potential customers for us to have 1st dibbs on the busiest night of the week. hes banking that we will commit to coming and buying meals. plus, if we say only 5 and 25 show up....I cant guarantee you a place to sit Saturday night. hes going to give that space to others. and rightfully so. and, if I say 25 and only 5 show up, he gets burnt and it makes me and my range look bad. so far...im coming thru and he hasn't required a deposit for a reserved table yet. id like to keep it that way.

its because of this, we cant take maybe as a yes.
yes is secured with a ticket. your ticket sits at the door in the form of a turkey shoot card with your name on it.
if you cant come, call us beforehand and you can transfer it. if the person you transfer it to doesnt come, its donated to someone else local that may walk in or its made void. it all works best this way.
when I see that at least 10 people are committed at least 1 month out...., then I commit to driving 1500 miles to open up the range for you. hope this eliminates some mystery.
remember...I live in conn and va.. I don't live on site in mo.. thanks for understanding.
