I picked up one of the brand new Sweet 16’s this spring. I could only find a couple of videos on disassembling the newer Browning A5’s, but they weren’t the new 16 gauges. One video shows using a punch on the bottom of the bolt to remove the retention pin holding in the firing pin and spring. When I look on the bottom of my bolt, all there is is a small hole I can see daylight through, from the small hole on the top of the bolt. It doesn’t look like there’s a retention pin in there for me to punch out, obviously, because I can see right through the hole to the top side. Something is keeping the firing pin and spring retained in the bolt, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out what. Does anybody know if there was a slight design change for the new Sweet 16’s, or otherwise can you tell me what I’m missing here as to how to remove the firing pin and spring? Thanks in advance. |

The SW16 is different than the 12ga guns and does not have a spring on the firing pin . Yes there is a roll pin holding the firing pin in , make sure you have the correct roll pin punch to drive it out or you will mess it up and never get it out .
Personally I wouldn't mess with it unless there is a problem |

Its a new gun, not really sure why you’d need to take it apart anyways. Quick clean and lube and it’s good to go, no bolt disassembly required. |

I guess I just wanted to give it a complete breakdown cleaning to make sure I had all factory grease out of all the nooks and crannies, since it’s a brand new gun. |

I’ve owned countless Browning Golds, 2 of the new Sweet Sixteens, and currently an SX3, and all I’ve ever done was oil the bolt rails and clean the grease off the magazine tube when taken out of box then went right to shooting. Never have I had any operating issues. |
