I’m in central MN and 33 years old. I won a beretta a300 at a Ducks Unlimited banquet and traded for a mint condition Ithaca 37 in 16ga with a fixed mod choke. I love to duck hunt so I took it out a few times last fall. Killed most with federal #4 steel and some with both new #5 and #6 Kent bismuth. All decoyed under 30 yards.

Ducks are my most hunted game here I'm SW Arkansas; that and dove bout the only birds to shoot here unless you drive for a day.

Welcome to the board. Nice to see a younger duck hunter shooting a 16. Looks like a nice mixed bag of ducks by MN standards. How did you like those Bismuth loads?

I didn’t notice a difference in the Bismuth loads over the steel loads. A mod choke at under 30 yards on all shots worked well.

If there was a 1oz load of #4 Bismuth available I think it would be ideal and would possibly take it out later in the year for some “big ducks”

Thereis, now that you have the ultimate gun in the ultimate gauge you need a reloader. It opens a whole new world and makes shooting a whole lot cheaper

Welcome Emtymag! Great to see a 16ga duck hunter!

I spent a bit of time working on 16ga steel loads for duck hunting. A guy named "mcrewz" just posted a newly tested 16ga steel load last week if you look on the reloading forum, that looks promising. Another guy 16gaWaterfowler has a nice steel load also. All full 1oz loads 1400-1500 fps area.

Lately I've been working on 16ga bismuth. BPI has a nice load on their LOTW on 9/30/16 for 9/8oz. Rotometals has a great sale on bismuth now also.

All that to say, your options with 16ga expand in the non-tox arena a lot as a reloader.

Great pictures, love to see the 16ga-- I just bought a 1987 Japanese Browning Auto-5 with chokes, just for duck hunting this next year!
