Stopped by a pawn shop yesterday and found they have a 1948 unmarked Sweet 16 in the rack. Mine's a 1947 with an X prefix, this one's in the 260300 range. I figured most of the sweets/light 12 and 20 guns would max out with 28" barrels but this one wears a 30" Full (29.5" actually). The stock is missing much of its finish and the wood is pretty dry, so is the rest of the gun, taking it down it looks like it hasn't seen any oil in quite some time. With an added recoil pad the LOP is a bit too long but otherwise it's in good shape at least on the outside.

Anybody ever seen a 29.5" barrel on a sweet 16 of any generation?

Well, if you wanted it I guess they'd make it. This one at Full at least follows the mass production generalization.

No, it stayed in the rack. I like the one I have well enough to let it be my keeper. Very Happy

Price was $650

With the going prices now, that seems an OK price, but not a great price for the condition you describe. Just fun to see them in the rack.
