Picked up my new FAIR Rizzini Iside today. Haven't shot it yet, but been fondling it. I like it, it is very basic, but looks really nice, case color, balances well, just a smidge in front of hinge pin, svelt little gun, handles a lot like my Ruger GOld label, but only in correct gauge.
Might shoot it tomorrow at some clays.

What kind of rib are they putting on the Iside? Smooth concave game rib?

Sounds like a winner.

Too pretty!

I'm seriously considering the base Iside 16 with 30" barrels. The euro-specs give them a comb higher than I want, but John Boyd told me for a $300 upcharge I can get my desired comb-drop numbers.

I bought the basic Iside in 16 gauge new from John Boyd in Houston and am very happy with it, other than the fact that it really kicks me, so I am going to have a Sporting Pad installed without any modification to the stock.

Bob, have you tried milder (1100-1150 fps) 7/8 oz reloads in it?

I have tried photos here before, don't even try anymore.
It is light weight, but I am okay with the 1 1/8oz 1300fps
concave type rib,
I think stock is a bit long, but shooting clays last night, (shot terrible, 25/50) but not gun fault, only had one mounting issue, and I had one double trigger issue, but that was in my head, not gun. When I had my stuff together, clay broke. It seems to fit me well, might still get fitted.
I think the 30" barrels would be fine, might even be a bit helpful especially on a clays course, but the 28 will work in the field on birds just fine.

Sounds like a good gun, Hootch. Ya, get the fit tweaked for you. Does your stock have some decent figure? I haven't seen any that look like a pine plank. The one I shot in St. Paul had very nice wood.

I like reloading the Remington Field and Game hulls so every flat (about 20) of factory ammo I have is 1 ox 8s.

Bob, those I oz Rem Game Loads are about the peppiest of the common 1 oz. loads. Once you drop down to 7/8 oz reloads it will recoil much less.

BTW, I ordered one from John at Quality Arms today.

(Anyone looking for a 16 gauge Sterly?)

John was great to work with. I am actually going to start reloading 1 1/8 ounce 16 gauge No. 9s for skeet, so considering the stock of the Rizzi, a Sporting Pad will give me two things: Reduced recoil felt and longer length of pull. I am not going to cut the stock in any way, so the original pad can easily go back on it.

Bob, do yourself a favor and at least try some 7/8 oz loads at skeet in such a light gun. I'd be surprised if your scores went down, and I'll bet they go up, especially over time. A nice tested 7/8 0z. load with the Remington hulls uses a W209 primer, Claybuster 0078 wad, 15.5 grains on International Clays for a speed of 1200 fps. I'll gladly send you enough wads to load a couple boxes, or even a couple boxes of loaded shells.

Back to the Iside. John is indeed pleasant with whom to process an order. I'm going to get the stock made to my dimensions (comb and LOP), and I'm getting a long trigger tang put on mine. Also 30" barrels and double triggers. It will most likely take a while, but hopefully good things come to those who wait!
