Fellas,
Came across a mint Simpson o/u. It is completely original and nary a mark. Asking price is 2k, it would appear to be very early post war production.
Thoughts? |

Hmmm, how many triggers and where EXACTLY is it available??
Any pics available?
I enjoy shooting my O/U Shule and if your find is in "mint" shape and it goes BOOM form both barrels I cant see how you'd go wrong. You may want to make sure it fits, the ones I've seen have a pronounced cheek piece that sometimes were modified (sanded down) to fit the owners spec's. IMO and not seeing it... I think $2k is a very fair price. |

Putz,
Haha....yep, fits perfect. There isnt a mark on it and to be honest it looks like it's literally never been fired. I've been trying to find my Double Gun Journal issue that covers this very models production etc...I just read the article (probably 10yrs ago). |

Doubt you can go wrong if it is as new. However, it depends if it is a Merkel look alike, its a deal. If the action looks like this, its the basic Simson O/U that sells for $4-500 in Germany can't tell you what they will bring here.

I have both models. A Merkel copy heavily engraved with bird scenes and hunting style solid top rib (excellent condition) picked it up for $600. Real bargain
Also have model 85EJ (like new) colour-case hardened receiver, solid top rib paid $900 for it. Both of these are great shotguns. You truly have to hold, shoot and hunt with them to appreciate how quick and trim they handle because they look bulky. |

So true. I've owned 5 continental OU's, 4 of which were Merkels, and 3 of the five were 16 gauge guns.. They have all been wands, and most were too fast for my shooting style. I'm down to a prewar 12 ga. 200E that has a balance that jives with my shooting shortcomings.
Sounds like a nice Simson! |

That said, I wouldn't last long in a picture fight with skeetx. |
