I finally visited the Gander Outdoors Store in Forest Lake MN. They have probably been open for 3 months or so after Gander Mtn closed last fall.

I had only one item I needed and didn't have a lot of time, but I took a quick walk around the entire store. A couple of observations. The store is brighter than it used to be. I think in general they have more name brand items, than Gander Mtn. did.
The gun counter was huge, But didn't have a single customer anywhere near it. There were every few customers in the whole store. The local Mills Fleet Farm stores have 10 times the customers in Sporting Goods alone.

The sixteen ga. ammo selection was better than I expected. They had Browning shells, both hunting and target loads. They had Remington Express and RGLs, and Federal game loads in 7.5 I didn't see any any 16 ga. no tox. The prices seemed about the same as other places for similar loads.

I bought one box of Express fours, dreaming of a January rooster.
