A couple of years ago there was a thread about members shotgun lineup for the year. Seeing as how we are always searching for the perfect shotgun; buying, selling, trading, how about another thread for this year to update our lineups?

Mine will be;

2018 Browning A5 16 ga.
1947 Browning Sweet Sixteen
2017 Browning Citori Gran Lightning 16 ga.
Stevens SxS 16 ga.
Remington 11-87 12 ga. (Waterfowl)

A couple other old 16's may see a day or so and another SxS in the works that I'm excited about.

My 16's are as follows: Ithaca N.I.D, Fox Sterlingworth, Lefever DS, and L.C. Smith Field grade (still haven't finished that one). I recently converted the Ithaca to english grip and I really like it now; it has been my fave lately and that says a lot.

Going to send 1, or maybe 2, out for cleaning and springs. No real plans on a new 16. I might be convinced to buy an ugly old Mossberg, bolt action, to use for turkey hunting. There was a few, that resembled the US 44 profile and trigger guard. Most think they are butt ugly, but I like the 44's.
I have been fondeling a 57' light 12, in the LGS however.
$350.......humm....

I've been hunting birds for 44 years. But am relatively new to both the 16 and doubles game and definitely am not a shotgun purist. Got a conglomeration of smooth bores.......

Lanber Hunter 12 gauge - my turkey go-to.
CZ Canvasback 20 gauge - my first double.
CZ Bobwhite 16 gauge-warm weather gun, double triggers are tight w/gloves.
Browning Citori Superlight Feather 16 gauge - my fav.
Benelli LH Montefeltro 12 gauge - just because.

I had all the stocks on the doubles reworked to fit my southpaw habit(s)....

I had a 16ga Midland hammer gun for purchase and was sending Steve Bertram monies to buy it. Yesterday Steve called me and said he has to send my check back There were some pits right in front of the chamber in the left barrel that were to deep and the barrels would be out of proof and to thin if he removed them. I was disappointed to be sure. It had 30 inch barrels and a straight stock. I'm glad Steve is a stand up guy. He's always been a pleasure to deal with

Regards, Gordon

I am currently in Montana trying to hunt birds, but have three 16 ga SXS's that I chose for this trip.
1: BSA Classic, 26" barrels with Briley chokes
2: TriStar Brittany, 27" barrels, screw in chokes
3: CZ Ringneck with 26" barrels and screw in chokes

For the dove opener in Missouri, I used my 16 ga 1939 Savage AH Fox Special. 30" barrels and fixed IC/Mod.

I hope to work the rest of my 16 ga guns into the rotation throughout the bird season.

As for 16s this year will probably be 1957 M37R and a 39 vintage M31. The 28s (1935 NID)and 410s(prewar Stevens sxs) have to get out for some fun too😁

I've starting thinning the herd to kids and grandkids. My upland and fun clays guns in 16 gauge are a prewar Ithaca 37 (1940) and a 1952 Model 37 that is cloned to appear prewar. There's three 12's,Two of em Ithaca, two 20's, and a couple of .410's lurking with whats left of my rifles in the safe. Gotta add one of the .410's is a Crescent Victor Ejector that was my Dad's first gun that was given to him used on his 9th birthday in 1924. I still hunt rabbits with it one day a year, usually New Years day as was Dad's custom many years ago.

I should sell a few guns off, these three seem to get all the attention the last few years:

Ugartechea 16 sxs, early 90ís iirc. Go to bird gun.
Simpson sxs, 16 ga. Rainy day gun.
Citori 525 16ga. Usually only shoot this one when Iím asked to shoot for a dog test, but if clays happen it is hard to pass over.

I *might* have to dust off the bps 12ga for a duck hunt this winter. Took it on trade a few years back and only carried it for a couple of days deer hunting. Not sure Iíve ever fired it???
