My go to grouse gun is an open choked FW Heym 6 pound 4 oz 16 gauge boxlock circa 1935.

I know this is heresy here but the other two guns that I will use the most this year depending on quarry are a 6 pound 7 oz Lovena sidelock in 12 ga that I just had the chokes opened to .005 and .015 and my Manufrance Ideal 6R EE also in 12 gauge choked mod and full.

Last few years I have sold most of the guns. Makes the decision before heading out to hunt a little easier. All are 16s with stocks that fit me, balanced to my preference and +/- 6 lbs.

All weather guns - Fox AE 28" or AOC/SG Uggie 28"
Nice weather gun - Webley & Scott SLE 30"

On special days I'll carry the H&H Royal 28"

All but the Royal have seen action and taken birds this season.

Being a hunter who really only looks at firearms as tools to get the job done - I must admit I have been impressed with some of the fine instruments I've seen on this site.

Only one 16 at the moment: my custom Husqvarna mod. 100 hammer gun, restored to better than new with straight grip conversion, briley tubes in the left barrel, custom grain, custom checkering, and re-blue/re-case color. It's my go to upland gun. Wouldn't mind a nice 37 or 870 pump that I could convert to straight grip. Also have a couple Lefever 12's, a special order 6.4lb 30" damascus straight grip, and a recently acquired FE heavy duck gun. I also bought a new Charles Daly 512 sxs with tubes this year, my only modern gun. Weighs 6lbs even. Might use that with small steel for snipe. I might consider trading that for a nice 16 pump, or possibly a sweet, or even another Husky 16, if someone is interested.

In addition to my 16's that are in my signature I have a couple 12's... a Win Super-X2 that I bought back in 2006 for Duck and Goose hunting, a Tri-Star DU special that I won in a poker game(DU Texas Hold-em tournament}

My 20ga collection includes an American Arms O/U that I bought back in 1991. And a real sweet LC Smith FW field model that I purchased this past spring to add to my LC Smith collection.

It is time to thin out a couple of guns to make room for another(and pay for) another LC Smith since they have become my favorites. My 16ga Elsie is a 1946 model and the 20ga is a 1925 model that I had the chambers opened up to 23/4 for easier access to ammo if I run short.

The DU 12ga and the American Arms 20ga are on my disposable list. Then I'll be looking for an LC Smith hammer gun.

I've been sweeping out the safe with 5 of the occupants (three 12's and two 16's) finding new homes in the last couple months. I have one more, a 16 ga. Parker VH heading for the block over the winter. I'm in a "life is simpler and I shoot better with less shotguns" frame of mind. Anyway, that leaves me with my straight-stock A5 SW16 as my lone 16 until a 16 ga. Rizinni Iside on order shows up in December. I've been hunting ducks the last couple weekends with my A5 camo 12. So my battery is going from 12 shotguns to 6 and I feel like I still have too many choices.
