I was really responding positively to the idea Ruff Hunter put forward of celebrating the idea of voting. Much as I respect Dale, and I do, the ability to change governments in a relatively peaceable fashion, is both a rare accomplishment and a relatively recent development in the history of mankind. Most of our history is about finding ways to kill each other and that kind of history is still being made.
The fact that the most powerful nation in the history of the world can do it every 4 years in relative peace is about as worthwhile celebrating, as a nation, as anything else I can imagine.

Well said. Well said.
As for your direct response to me I disagree that my sig line makes a statement, just a humorous identification and contradiction. But, its a free country (even Canada, for the most part!) so read into what you will.
But I can see where you are coming from and that after getting admonished by me for getting political in a post and then seeing that sig line, it might needlessly sting a little more. Well guys, my apologies for that, but rules are rules and I don't want to see this place turn into the doublegun forum. I treasure a place like this where we can talk about shotguns and hunting and not get political, and I'll my part to keep politics out, as per the rule, notwithstanding this thread.
BTW. I think your take on that site is a little bit skewed, its about tribalism and politics, not misrepresentations and hypocrisy. I've lurked over those fights, its pathetic. And I don't mean you. While I disagree with your politics as you've stated there, from what I've read you keep it civil and respectable. Some of the more vocal members don't and are in fact acting quite the opposite, hence the sh!thole.
I will guarantee the board though if some snowflake starts posting on here their liberal diatribe about how the GOP doesn't either care for and is making the life of some Guatemalan coffee bean farmer more difficult, I'll get on top of them too. Even if its about gun control as well! Its just that either there are not too many liberals that frequent this site, or if they do, they ,must be following the rules as I can not recall ever seeing a liberally slanted thread or post on here. |

I will help you out by bailing on this one, too.
But just a thought on the way out.

Whole lot of smoke Ruff Hunter. I was able to vote when I was so poor the poor felt sorry for me.
Global warming, terrible stories about the NRA. Red herrings in my opinion, and judges appointed by liberal executives tend not to give a whit about the 2nd amendment.
Voting is a responsibility of a legal citizen of the U.S. there are no barriers to keep you from voting. If you haven't a clue why or who you are voting for or an illegal immigrant then you have the responsibility to not vote.
Class warfare is a tool of the left, I don't subscribe to the premise.
I have stated my opinion, you have stated yours. I for one am through with this subject.

Dale I learned a hard lesson a long time ago; not to attribute to people the same characteristics or traits I have. You seem like a hard working down to earth fellow who's got their sh!t straight. I have a deep respect for those traits. Not everyone has those traits though, we are not all born equally in those departments, but that should not be held against a person when it comes to exercising their fundamental right to vote. |

Gentlemen
How are y'all doing on your shooting, hunting, fishing, crafting this year?
I would LOVE to hear about those items.
I do plan to shoot my Krieghoff Drilling tomorrow at skeet if I am feeling well enough
Ruff Hunter, how do you like the BRNO, I have always been fascinated by the barrel change out of them and the Valmet systems
https://www.gunbroker.com/Shotgun-Barrels/search?Keywords=brno%20barrel*&Sort=13&PageSize=24
Is yours an O/U or SXS? ZH121?
AND does your have the double/double trigger??
Enjoy the day

Hi Mike,
It is a ZP 47 SxS 16GA with 28” barrels. Of all my grouse getters she’s one of my favorites! And since I have a liberal slant, (and apparently as such, I am an avowed communist according to some) I just am drawn to those eastern block beauties! A fine piece of art of socialist production under Novotny. But alas, she was liberated and found freedom in America. |

One of my favorite guns is a Lovena from the early 1920's......another gun whose origins relate to Novotny. And I had an actual Novotny 16 that had been featured in DGJ about 20 years ago offered to me last year. In Austria and just too hard and expensive to liberate it. It is kinda special.....had been serviced for many years by Peter Nelson, if you know who he is. |

Plain glossy black. I’ve heard of them referred to as “Coffin guns” in the past but I thought that term was particular to the Baker Balck Beauty.
I think your description of the “engraved” side locks in your link is spot on. I have seen a few pics of some that has a light scroll engraving along the edge of the lock plate. Those looked much nicer then the gaudy deep engraving you normally see.
Mine does not have the cocking indicator. |

Skeettx,
Let me know how shooting your K- Drilling goes, I have been considering a purchase of a pre War K-Drilling for quite some time. Great German Guns no doubt about it.
I have a real nice pre-War 16 Gauge Best J.P. Sauer that I love to Grouse hunt with quite a bit. How heavy is your K-Drilling, is it a 16?

Yes 16 gauge
And it shot quite well, but with the full and fuller chokes
it was either miss or smoke.
The most interesting adventure is the Greener side safety.

Skeettx,
Mike as soon as I get our old home sold I am going to try picking one up, have wanted a Drilling for a long time, and here in Pa with our over lapping season of Grouse, Turkey and Deer it's about time I own a nice pre war 16 Drilling gun. Leaning toward a K gun or a J.P. Sauer. The lots of the old 16 J.P. Drillings are under 7 Lbs.
