I've got a Fox Sterlingworth in 16 gauge. Briley offers color case hardening for $450.00. Anybody have experience with this on this service or have any recommendations for anyone else doing this?
Thanks, Robert |

Doug Turnbull does the best color-case that I have seen.

Having had Briley install a set of Thin-Wall choke tubes, I'd never say anything against their workmanship. However, I'd agree with RK: check with Turnbull. Case coloring is his specialty. If you do that and don't mind, post what he quotes. I'd be interested in knowing, because people ask about CC options and prices from time to time. |

Thanks for the replies. I checked out Turnbull's site and it appears he does nice work. Doesn't seem overly expensive either.
Jmeili, who did the work on your shotgun? That looks nice also.
I've got Briley doing some choke work on my Ugartechea right now. I don't think anyone can fault their work like that but I've never seen any of their cosmetic stuff. I need to run down there sometime since Houston's not far from Austin.
But it sure is tempting to get a full Turnbull job since I don't plan on ever getting rid of the Fox. Let's see, color case hardening, rebluing, total clean job and stock refinish. Might as well dream all the way.

I have just finshed having COLOR CASE Company in New Springfield,OH
do a Lefever Action and forend Iron for me and it is excellent, I believe their work is as good and faster than Turnbulls(and less expensive)
You have to do all the polishing yourself. My action work was 125.00. I nitre blued the top lever, trigger bar and trigger guard myself. The color hardening is beautiful. |

I just called Turnbull the other day on a Merkel I need to have the CC done on.
I was told that if I took the gun apart and polished it down and had it ready it would cost me about $425 for the receiver.
If I just send them the receiver and they do all the work it would be between $500-600.
That seemed a bit high so I called GSI. They will do all the work on the gun and then send it back to the factory to have it redone along with doing the metal in the forend for $425 total.
It is going back to Merkel. |

I have been using Classic Guns for seven tears --- send all my client work to them. Their cost is a tad over half of Turnbulls cost. I send them about 30-40 pieces a year. Ken |

"Classic Guns" are in Beecher . Ill. --- They have a web site but I can't remember the exact wording used and there are many classic gun entries. Just call infomation for their phone no. & give them a call. Ask for John Gillett, he does the color case work. Ken |
