After patterning my Husky and finding out it was shooting a bit low, I raised the comb a tad, and while I was at it, I decided to completely re-work the grain pattern I had on it. I just didn't like it. It wasn't very convincing, so I decided to go full marble cake because, well, why not? I also added my setter on one side and a friend I hunt with on the other so that now I have something interesting and personally meaningful to look at instead of just wood grain. I also like how the raised tail of the setter visually echoes the hammers. It shoots dead on now too.
Not only that, but we closed on a house yesterday, and I also found out one of my oil paintings is a finalist in the Art Renewal Center International Salon competition (here's a link in case anyone is curious: https://www.artrenewal.org/Salon/Home). With over 4,700 entries from 73 countries, I'm really excited to be in the running. If it wins, it will be shown in he Salmagundi Club in New York, and possibly the Museum of Art Modern Museum (MEAM museum) in Barcelona, Spain. Fingers crossed. This has been a great week!

Thanks guys. This is my third time entering the show, and my first acceptance. I've had a ton of solo gallery shows and have managed to be in a few museum shows over the years, but this is the most prestigious competition I've [been in the running for] to date. Persistence pays off! I hope |

Good luck with the show Mark. The gun is of course a beauty, I would expect nothing less from you. |

I always thought the gun stunning the way it was. I'm sure it will mean even more to you now with the personal touches. Good luck in the competition and with the new home. |

I really like your wood graining, Mark. I'd like to learn that to fiddle with my own guns. Got any recommendations on how I can get started? PM me. Thanks.
By the way, I see your "artist's signature" near the toe on the finished product. Pretty nifty, and it goes well. |
