When I really want to get serious about bagging a grouse, my young dog & my old Sweet 16 have turned out to be the winning combination... These PA grouse all seem to have PhD's these days, but she pinned this one w/ a nice point in an opening in otherwise dense young birch forest. It presented a long crossing shot I struggle with but a magic BB ruled the day.

Boon,
Outstanding shooting buddy, give the pup a pat on the head, and a well done from Pine Creek Grouse Dog Trainers!
You are correct all Pa Grouse seem to have PHD's in evasion tactics now!
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

Hi Dave, have you hit the covers yet? All this rain is making it tough. The birds seem pretty dispersed this year. With all the acorns, there is no lack of food for them. |

boon,
I have not been able to get out yet, worried about my wife, she took a fall and is just healing up, so I stayed close to home. Also I am expecting my Bristol Silver 28 gauge gun to be delivered to my FFL on Friday. I will try to make it up to the log cabin on Saturday or Sunday depending on how my wife is doing. Hope your Grouse season has been good, even with the spooky birds.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave

I have the new model Sweet 16, but I would love to add one of the originals to my collection even though I'm more of a double gun guy. Very nice! |

Sorry to hear about your wife. I hope she is on the mend. I’ve only hunted one day in PA, but I’m hoping to get out tomorrow if the rain holds off somewhat. I’ve hunted NY more than PA. The woodcock seem to be moving around early. |

Gentlemen,
Thanks much for the kind words about my wife. She is back on her feet and seems to be doing well now, and the leg seems to be alright, we will know more about he brusing in a few days. It has disapaited over the last few days.
My 28 gauge Bristol Silver gun is in at my FFL dealer, will pick the gun up tomorrow.
If my wife is better I will probably leave for the mountains on Monday.
all the best,
Pine Creek/Dave
