This is my A.H Fox A Grade 12 gauge. Bought new by one of my paternal great grandfathers in 1909. Used by him and my grandfather but rarely by my father. My father was a Win M12 16 gauge devotee. Truthfully, I never saw him hunt with another gun. But it was this Fox that got me interested in vintage SxS. I had all the finishes redone about 14 years ago. It's choked full and full and I typically use it for turkey.

My son will get this in time.

My other paternal great grandfather was more of a deer and moose hunter. My brother has custody of his Win 1894 SRC in Win .32, bought new in 1903.

James, that's a beautiful gun and great heritage. I see you are back to drinking Clenzoil again. Time for an intervention? This time we'll bring the Shell Answer Man to discuss why you shouldn't.
Mike, here's a close up of the Higham's action. Gun weighs just under 5 lbs., 15 oz. C/F, 29" barrels. Someone restocked it with a plain piece of wood. Can't imagine what it would have looked like with the fiddleback wood on the forend. The photo with the woodcock best shows the wood contrast. I'll probably shoot it opening day dove season. Thanks for your interest. Gil

Hahahaha!

Gil, it's an old photo. Before I saw the light, thanks to Wingshooter.

Gil S,
Thanks for posting a close up of the Higham, beautiful gun. I will pass this along to my buddy. He will enjoy the pic. If you are interested in a 28 Higham Toby Barclay had one for sale the last time I visited his site. I can’t recall the name of his site but if you google him it will pop up.

Good Hunting,
Mike

Gil, I recently acquired a Higham 12 2.5” chamber gun. Mine is only ~80% engraved, has most likely had the barrels re-blacked, but weighs 6.25lbs. Seems like nice gun. It’s a shame yours was restocked, as I understand this maker started as a stock maker.

I’ll just load mine with one once loads and pretend it’s a sixteen...
