Thanks! I had it over at the Winona skeet range last night. These 30" barrels are light, so it needs to be swung. |

I think the best thing to do is figure out what you like in a gun then hit the used gun sites often. I have seen some bargains on 16 ga. doubles that were "lefties" with cast on stock dimensions. I seem to recall one that caught my eye this spring and I thought "wow, what a bargain" and then saw the stock was set up for a left hand shooter and passed on it. They are out there. |

I have appreciated everyone's help in looking for a 16ga SxS. I have made a pick. It's a Garbi 101 DLX in coin finish and single trigger. I know, blasphemy! I'll post pics once received. It's like-new condition and has barely been shot for $6k. Please tell me I got a good price.

Hi all. New poster here, GrizzlyAdams. I am asking for recommendations on a 16ga side by side. I'm left handed and would be interested in used as well. I currently have a Fausti DEA SLX in 20 that I am learning to shoot sporting clays with for upcoming quail/pheasant season.
Any recommendation on new/used 16ga side by side, English stock, good for left-handed) would be greatly appreciated. I think a fair budget would be $5k.
Glad to be part of the group here!
Thanks,
GrizzlyAdams

I'm looking at an old Merkel Model 8 for restoration. I already have a Zavasta M70 and it is a good gun. The nut behind the recoil pad lets me hit 20 out of 25 on 25 yd. trap on a good day.
Cabelas in Avon has one for about $600 and I am about ready to get it. Maybe new wood and new case hardening to make it all pretty. But the ability to hit will still be there if ugly or pristine.
I want a gun that can be light but not kick me to death. My Franchi Falconet in 12 ga. with 2 3/4 in. shells works well, but I want to try and go lighter and go to the traditional SXS platform. On a good day, I break 20 on trap with the Zavasta. On a bad day, it comes in at 7. I'm used to single and stack-barrels. SXS is new to me this year.
Next week I will go out with my 9 month-old Brittany to a Pheasant Preserve to have fun. I will take the Zavasta and try to make the hits I know I can do with my 12 ga. guns. |

Hey newtonian_guy, sounds like you are on the right track. I’ve found all the 16 gauges I’ve ever shot, to be noticeable easier on the shoulder than any 12 ga of comparable weight I’ve tried. Same goes for 20ga., I find the 16 to have lighter perceived recoil. |
