| I was just reading the announcement about chamber lengths. Coincidentally, I saw an advertisement in Gun List by the J. C. Devine auction company. (page 121, Oct 20 issue) It lists a Model 21 Winchester in 16 ga. (3" chambers). Did we ever decide that there were in fact some 3" 16 ga. shells briefly manufactured?? Did Winchester really chamber some 21's 3" in 16 ga???? or is this a misprint?? anybody know the answer?? just curious |

Could be Mod,11. Some time back I posted a comment from John Olsen's book of the Shotgun (pp.148/149)stating that he had seen a Parker marked 3" owned by Bill Amestoy along with a half case or so of 3" 16ga.shells from "a now defunct manufacturing company".
Frightening isn't it? |

Without some evidence from the manufacturer that it is factory work I'd assume that any 3" 16 ga I see was modified after the fact.
I'd avoid them unless it was a gun that I just HAD to have.

I can't attest to the before/after question as to the Parker but the shells seem to suggest that at some time the 3" 16 was considered.
A 3" 16 is a horrid idea as far as I'm concerned. |
