Life throws curve-balls, as you well know. It has been fairly busy in my world for the last couple of years. Seem to be climbing-out of all that now, however. Feeling pretty blessed at the moment. Sitting in the sunshine on a Geoprobe rig at an old ordinance plant in eastern Nebraska today (where I'm easily the oldest guy on the jobsite!). A Geoprobe is like a drilling rig, but much smaller and more high-tech.

Still in Colorado. Still frustrated with how that's going.

Unfortunately, Colorado is not the only Socialist stronghold. We feel your pain.

Welcome back, hope you have been well and not working to hard. Nice birds and gun, hope you are making some time to use your 16 gauge double gun. Colorado has some liberal nut cases for sure, no match for the peoples republic of Mass however, I stay out of that state as much as I can. NY is close behind and I still like to cross the border in our mountains and hut Grouse there on occasion, when Pa's season closes.

Been a tough couple of years here in Pa, lost several of my Grouse dogs to old age, and had open heart surgery myself, my Agent Orange has been effecting me badly.

On the positive side I purchased 2 new setter puppies, a Gordon form Clearcut Kennels and a Ryman from Wyssfiresidesetters, the Ryman pup has not arrived home here in the mountains yet. Shadow our Gordon is going to be a serious Grouse dog.

Dave: Brit BLE from 1905, one of a pair, a W. Richards that was likely made in the trade (in Birmingham). Long, light and lovely and not overly ostentatious (or expensive).

It's the end product of a long and arduous process to find "the right gun" for my primany upland game species. It's in proof for 2 3/4 shells but it only weighs 5lbs14 and it has a lovely (but dainty!) diamond-shaped wrist. Accordingly, I only shoot 2 1/2-inch shells in it. RST is my current favorite.

I've been tempted by a couple of guns since it's purchase (and who here hasn't suffered from that one?) but after quite a few seasons now... it's pretty obvious that it suits me. After some initial fitment issues (had it cast on just ever-so slightly) 14 3/4 LOP and 28 tubes is clearly my sweet spot. The chokes are a bit too-open in the left tube, but that's a niggling complaint. I just wish that it wasn't so darn old. Hell...I wish I wasn't so darn old.

Beautiful birds and gun, fantastic stuff for sure! Is the WR a 16 gauge double gun or a 12? Real nice bird gun!

Dave: I'll bet I know what Pine Creek you're referring to.

I've owned and handled some wonderful British 12s that were as light or nearly as light as my little BLE (that includes both sidelock and boxlock guns) but...my Richards is, and more-appropriately here, just a well-worn and fairly plain-jane 16. I'd truely love to try a 2-inch 12 sometime, just to see how it compares (I'd like to think that they'ed be pretty spectacular on grouse!), but the odds of me finding one now seem a little long. When you say "WR" you do know that it's not a Westley? William Richards was around even before Westly Richards, but the name has been much maligned because of the underhanded practices of (mostly) Belgium exporters of cheaply-made guns.
