MSM2019,

Do as we did and hunt in NH, VT and ME for Grouse and Woodcock, it is a shame what happened to CT.

Same is happening in Vermont Dave, at least southern Vermont. Lots of my favorite coverts have condos on them or so close its tough to hunt them, others are overgrown since logging is a no no.

The State of CT thinks that a 'mixed' forest is the way to go. We have too many deer (for at least 30 years now) and bear(mostly in folks garbage cans) where there never was any 30 years ago. Turkey are doing OK too.

Upland birds are the big loser. Ya gotta clear cut some of this stuff. The forests are well past mature here.

It's the same here MSM. its a shame some of the mature trees are dying and of no use to anyone including the critters that live there.

Gentlemen,

As I have indicated in the past, politics kills more Grouse than any Grouse hunter ever could. In many states Habitat management is not being done. Our southern tier of Pa needs logged badly. This political influence seems to be going on in all our north eastern states. No matter how our biologist advise our game commissions to manage the forest properly for our wild life.
Too many tree huggers influencing our Pa state government for sure. Our southern tier from Ohio to NJ needs logged badly if we want to save what is left of our once incredible Grouse population.

may I gently remind everyone why clay targets were invented.
if they weren't, none of you would be hunting today....AT ALL.
support your local range and shake the owners hand.

Bobski,

Not quite sure of what you are saying, although it is nice to shoot clays in reality it has nothing to due with the ability for me to use our SGL & PGC lands to hunt Grouse on, here in Pa.

Please explain your point for me.

Although I do know Joe Hardy owner of Nemacolin Shooting Academy and Ray Anthony owner of one of our largest shooting ranges, neither are responsible for our hunting here in Pa.

Interested in your point.
