I bought a Rem 1100 16 gauge REAL CHEAP because the magazine
tube would not hold the barrel nut

When I shot the gun the nut would come off and the forearm
would move forward.

How would you have fixed it??

Picture to come later

Mike

Can I play? Are you saying either nut or tube threads are somewhat stripped? If yes, something to fill the threads like plumbers thread tape? blue Loctite?

tied a record maybe - 5 straight days of measueable snow for the date !!... Busy as He++ at the club . Rebuilding 3 of the 4 trap bunkers and leveled a skeet field . Contractors avail now even though they aren't supposed to work !! ... State F&G has closed all the boat ramps ! Son in law madder than hell ! i think our walleye season starts 1st Sat in May ... 28ga 1100 handling those loads fairly well with the hole plugged - more shots fired OK ... Send your 1100 to Remington . They put a new mag tube on , new mag spring and stopper , new action spring and stopper , new action handle spring and bearing and reblued the gun , all for 103 bucks ! The only thing I couldn't for see is the link bending and breaking from the 1st load tests . Fairly fast turn around . I couldn't buy even an old junker for less than 500 ! You may be able to take an inny dent remover and expand that threaded area enough to hold , but a redo is how I'd go . (if Rem is working !)

Very Happy Very Happy

Cheaper fix and if needed could later send to Remington
BUT this way the cap WILL NOT come off unless I want it to !!

With adjustable comb for trap

Could not see spending $150 more to fix a $150 gun !!

Hi Mike.

I was considering one of those stocks for my 1100. I assume it is a Jack West.

My one concern was how the forend fits around the barrel...is there a big gap?

Yes and a bit shorter than factory 16 gauge wood, so I used
an o-ring to tighten it up,

Maybe if your caps screws down more the o-ring might not be needed.

Folks are correct about the $150.00 shotgun.......but unless you have one of the rare 525 Sporting Browning's, an 1100 is about the closest you can get to a clays gun in 16 gauge.

I have tried shooting my Citori for Sporting and it sure is fun, but at 7 lbs. it is easy to overpower, especially the way it is balanced with the 28" barrels......at least for me.

Always end up back with the 1100......but that has worked for a very long time. It just beats up your pile of hulls, when you shoot registered clays and you can't pickup your hulls.

Mike,

Put a slightly longer screw in there with a cap nut, and you can add all kinds of accessories! Sorta like a poor man's picitanny rail!
