Have looked over the thread from revdocdrew re: serial numbers for A5s..and have gone to the Browning site....and still not sure when my Sweet Sixteen was made.......... X 532xx.......Belgium made with St Louis address and a poly choke on a plain barrel that was originally mod choked.
Figure Mr Mulliken will know. Thanks in advance, Jeff....Jeff |

X 53xxx puts it towards the middle of 1951, according to Blue Book.

My A5 Sweet 16 is X43511 and was made in late 1950, so Foursquare has it right. Jeff will get back to you. He's out hammering geese with his 1906 A-5 at the moment

It was made in the fall of 1951, based on the production figures probably made around September. I own X 51,111.
I think the guns from this era are about as good as A5's get.
Citorifeather, My next trip out duck and goose seasons will be open. I'll take two guns to my blind, my '23 16 will be stoked with with 2 1/2" bizmuth hand loaded 5's for ducks and '06 12 ga with 2 3/4" Bizmuth #2's for geese.
They are the straight stocked guns in the other post. They look so cool standing in the corner of a blind with a bunch of dekes swinging on their tethers out front...
