Betty Winkler and Mrs Frank Bering, radio stars, participating in the Chicago Daily News trapshooting event in Lincoln Park, Chicago, Illinois, September 1935
Sheila Egan
All these ladies were genuine shooters; not models told "here, hold this and look cute", and they deserve our respect.

The last few years I have seen more and more women out training dogs, grouse hunting and pheasant hunting. Recently I read that women are the fastest growing segment of both clay shooting and hunting.
Good Hunting,

OMG!! The dreaded Nydar sight on Veronic Lake's Model 12 --
As for women shooters, how about Osa Johnson and her No. 4E Ithaca 20-gauge --

She may not have been the greatest beauty, but Plinky Topperwein was a woman that could really shoot.
Here is a little video about her and the Winchester Model 1890 rifle --
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKID4c5A4Rc
but I most admire her trap shooting skills with the Model 97 and Model 12.

If you really look at the picture and the look on his face it's pretty obvious. |
