I have an interest in using onX maps.
Does anyone have experience with this app?
I don't question the accuracy of the GPS but wondering if the landowner/parcel/CRP/Walk in info is up-to-date? |

I’ve had it since this spring and so far has been 100%.
I spend way too much time looking at it search for new areas and how to access them. |

Never tried onx but have heard good things about it. I have been using huntstand for about 2 years and have clocked in well over 200 hours. It’s very useful and has a lot of fun tools. Plus the parcel data seems to be spot on. |

I have it love it boundary's are right on the money pretty much i would say. Used it quite a bit during spring turkey. I will say some of the landowner stufff is not up to dat. I think that has to do with the towns not entering data as they change. Joe |

While property lines may be up to date, actual ownership information lags behind by several years in some of the areas I hunt. Gil |

It is my understanding that if you do not have cell service then you need to save the maps on your phone for the areas you want to hunt. Outside of that I have heard good reports. I don’t know how large an area you can save or what the resolution is. If you know exactly where you are going to hunt then loading the maps would work well.
Good Hunting,
Mike |

I use it in the hand held Garmin GPS (alpha 100). Boundaries on the BMA-s I have hunted in mT were right on the money for accuracy. Don't need cell service for that to work. |

Used it on an antelope hunt in Wyo last year. Sure is nice knowing where you are at all times and a lot cheaper than a trespassing ticket. The properties where we knew who the landowner was were up to date but beyond that I can't say how accurate the others were. |

Gentlemen,
Does xMaps work all over the USA, if I want to use it to see the actual state boarders between NY and Pa will xMaps give me that info. Hunting Grouse in our mountains along the border with NY can be tricky if you are carrying your hand gun, you need to know exactly where you are in the big woods.

You'll have to show me how to use it next time we shoot. |

Yes if you pay for all 50 states.
No if you only pay for 1. |

Another app to check out is basemaps.
I found the onx app on sale over Mother’s Day for $70 for 365 days and all 50 states.
Might be another sale over the 4th |

Correct. You can save them in 20, 10 or 5 square mile areas.
The bigger the area the less resolution.
Once saved switch your phone to airplane mode to save battery but still use the gps function. |

15 years ago hunted Wyoming for antelope. Was paranoid the entire time, felt like I was trespassing. Fences didn’t match up with maps quite often. Have hunted Wyoming 3 times in recent years with OnX, felt at ease. Knew exactly where I was. Verified fences are often wrong.
I use it on my iPhone. Download the highest resolution of my entire hunt area before losing cell service. Then turn off cell signal to keep from draining the battery. Always accurate as to where we are.
Many layers you can turn on. Simple road maps. Topo maps. Satellite images. Specific game units. Hunt zones. Walk in areas.
Wouldn’t hunt without it. |
