Cool gun there UDF. Thought of you yesterday when I saw a high grade Lefever 16 at a shop.

Mark, other than removing the "lovely" cheek pad and filling holes, have you found any structural issues to the stock? Looks like some nice wood underneath. Gil

No not yet. I don't see any cracks. The stock was hollowed out at some point, with a solid plastic extension added. It doesn't really matter though, as I'll be filling the entire cheek area in with lightweight wood epoxy resin if it's dished out underneath, replacing the extension, fixing any cracks that do show up after disassembly, and then covering over the repairs and re-graining into the existing grain. Not sure how far I'll go yet with the custom artwork, although I do have a couple concepts in mind, incorporating some gold and silver leaf vine/leaf patterns from H&H engraving I like. I'm going to pattern it today to see if any stock adjustments are necessary before I get started with the stock.

Thank you very much. i patterned it and shot some skeet with it today, and it handles the long crossers very well with those long barrels. I imagine it was probably originally designed as a driven pheasant/grouse gun. One can only imagine the game it has taken over the last 110 years.

I’m almost at a loss for words. You actually found Moby Dick in the ocean of 16 ga guns, harpooned him, pulled him aboard, and stowed him away in your locker. Well done Cap’n!

Aye Matey! I would say I'm enjoying me booty, but you might get the wrong idea. Laughing

...and we might as well close out all the new “look what I found“ posts here for the foreseeable future. It will be hard to top this one, unless someone shows up with Number 2.

Cheers
