I grew up shooting an LC Smith 16 ga. So I am very fond of the gauge and not afraid of sxs.
Been thinking about adding another to the stable. Currently have a Rizzini round body O/U in 16.
Here are my choices:
Win 21, either pre-owned (about $7500) or new ($16k) from CSMC, weight about 7 lbs.
Perazzi Mx-16, scaled frame, weight about 7.2 lbs, cost about $15k
Rizzini, regal deluxe, weight about 7 lbs, cost about $7,500.
If cost was not the deciding factor, which way would you go?
Not asking you to pick a gun for me, but am interested in your thoughts of the three listed. |

What's the use/purpose of this next gun?
What guns do you have now, and how does this need for a new gun fit into the overall collection? |

I’ll only say that I have a csmc SxS in 20 ga. It’s a great gun, and easy on the eyes. |

After i posted, I realized I should of listed use. Thanks for the prompt.
Largely will be for western wild pheasant and eastern game farm pheasant, dove and occasional quail. Along with rec sporting clays. I have dedicated guns for the sports.
I have an Inverness 20 ga OU, 20 ga RBL reserve, Rizzini Round body 16, Ruger Red label 12, Parker 12, LC Smith 16 & 20. |

May I suggest you browse thru Jaquas Fine Guns 16 gauge inventory. |

For a field gun, I’d suggest a Fox A Grade. For a dove/clays gun the Perazzi seems to be a better fit for your collection. |

Flyfishr,
I would not limit myself to just the modern 16 gauge double guns, I would also look at classic guns like Purdey, H&H, and L.C. Smith if money is no object. If I stayed modern I would pick up a 16 gauge #1 or #2 AYA double gun instead of some of the others you have listed.
Pine Creek/Dave
L.C. Smith Man
A 1910, 16 gauge Purdey with Hodges made breech is pretty tough to beat!
A Deluxe Grade L.C. Smith 16 gauge with Kraus Engraving would also be something to consider.

From that list it would have to be the Rizzini, to me model 21's are way over priced and way over rated and I never liked the way they handled. I know nothing about Perazzi except for they are supposed to be quality guns.
If money was no object I'd have CSMC build me a new Fox , but that just me . |

The only one of the guns you listed that I have handled is the 21 and personally I would go the English route and save a pound in weight and you would also gain quite a bit in handling characteristics. However, I have a couple of friends that like a 7 lb gun and maybe you fall in that group.
I have a friend that is trying to sell his 16 ga 21 but I think it is an original Winchester vs a CSMC. If you go that route and are interested I will see if he still has it. You could PM me.
Good Hunting,
Mike |

Flyfisher,
I don’t see the point of buying a 7 lb 16 ga for field use. That’s 12 ga weight. I’d look for a 6 lb or 6 1/2 lb AyA as mentioned above, or other Spanish maker. There are also some great lightweight Italian 16 guns as well. Enjoy the quest!
Good Luck

Once you shoot a 6lb 16, you'll understand why they are called "sweet." Otherwise, you may as well just shoot a 12. |

Perazzi MX-16 if cost is not a factor. |

I see Bob Cash over on Double Gun has posted a M21 16 ga 28" restored by CSMC it would seem. 6 pounds 12 oz. Mod / Cylinder.
Might be just what you are looking for. |
