Are you sure that's a Merkel? I don't recall any Merkel models with that number. Sauer marketed a 60E in this country during the 60's--ejector version of their basic Model 60, made in West Germany. |

Hi Larry
The 60E is definitely a Merkel model - at least in this part of the world where, I am pretty sure, we have the European model numbers.
The 60E is their current sidelock (and has been around quite some time)and was made in 12, 16, 20 and 28. A guy I knew while I was living in Oz had a pair made about 5 years ago (1 in 12, 1 in 20) and let me play with them for a while. I still drool at the thought.... |

Definitely a Merkel and this model has been around in Europe for years. It is still marketed in Australia as well under that model number. I would have to compare it to a 147SL here in the US except that the gun feels much more substantial. All my sidelocks from the 50's, 60's and 70's from Merkel that were made in the DDR just seem to be more solid than the guns Merkel is making recently-IMO.
Love the engraving on these guns

Jon, we still have not figured out if you are bragging, complaining, or selling. |

Probably just a tease to test the market prior to setting a price.....why else would you not post an asking price or respond to multiple requests? If that is the case, I would suggest the moderator move the post to the "16 gauge guns" forum, as it does not belong here. |
