The temperature at my house this morning was minus 13 degrees, a record low. Previous record....8 degrees above. No, I'm not hunting grouse today.

Is that more global warming?
Record October snow fall in Minnesota this month.
And it’s been damn cold for October.

Had a little snow, been in the teens and 20's for the last several days, I think it got down to the single digits a night or two, a nice 10 to 15 MPH breeze......haven't missed a day of hunting.

Please feel free to send that over to Maine.

Over the summer and continuing to this very minute we've had a huge influx of vehicles bearing license plates from places like NY, NJ, MA, CT, who have shown up here and have thus far refused to leave. They've been buying houses and making nuisances of themselves.

So, we're all hoping and praying for a really brutal typical Maine winter. You know, a week here and there at -10 to -20. Snow starting somewhere around November 15 and not leaving until Tax Day or later next spring. Snowstorms that last 4 days. Snowstorms every 3 or 4 days. Spend the month of February looking up at 20. Power outages that last a week. Blizzards that drop 30 inches.

So far, we haven't told them about roof rakes. We're hoping they decide to economize on snow shovels, pass on the snowblower, don't bother with replacing the car battery, get the "all season" tires that don't grip worth a damn and generally think that because they're Noo Yawkers they know how to handle themselves.

A friend who has a camp in The County told me some Noo Yawker bought a farm near his. First thing he did was post it aggressively. This interfered with locals reaching the river to fish, so he had them arrested. I heard there's a pool - like for ice-out - on how long it will take until someone implements "Maine remedies" to inform this guy he's not on the Upper West Side any more. No, you can't pick "yesterday", either. Someone beat you to it.
