Our 16x8mm combo gun is nearly ideal for working the old logging roads and railroad beds out here during deer season. However the extra full choke is really only useful for ground or tree swatting birds (perish the thought). It needs to be opened up to IC. I see Briley offers the service for $95. Anyone have any experience with them?

Brewster- as far as install chokes they are great, do good work. As they are about 30 min from me, Iíve had them do several including a sxs. With that being said not sure I would let them open up some sxs barrels. I think there are better people for that job.
I've had Briley install screw in chokes, open fixed chokes, repair dented barrels and reblue barrels to match factory finish. In every instance their work was outstanding. I had some problems with a 16 ga SXS I had another smith put screw in chokes in, and decided at that point it was probably cheaper to pay Briley's prices than deal with a screwed up gun. I would certainly recommend them.

Just an alternative suggestion... I have a Merkel O/U that I patterned and it is very tightly choked as I assume is your gun. I might take it out for turkeys, and the factory chokes will suffice nicely. I also patterned it with Polywad spreader 1oz loads, and they give something between an IC and MOD pattern. That said, I purchased a set of dies and converted one of my MECs to 16ga, and I am researching 1oz spreader loads and plan to roll all of my own 16ga loads from now on. But, I will hopefully have the choice from IC to ridiculously FULL when I'm done. Just my $.02.

Thanks all for the feedback. Iíve used Skeets for trigger work, and after the holidays Iíll ring them up and talk about the choke.
Great choice and he has a good turn around time normally although all the trap guys send their guns in to these barrel guys in the winter months. Just a thought. I know Orlen does great work but the people I know whoíve dealt with him say itís almost impossible to get him on the phone, but thatís just hear say. Iíve never dealt with him.
