Last night I ordered case of 16ga Bizmuth 5’s ,fiber wads , 1200fps. Think they will be great for pheasants!

Has anyone here patterned the fiber was shells?
Also, very importantly, are they purple or red? |

Used the Boss #5's all season on pheasants here in Idaho. Gotta give a thumbs up!
Used the 1350's. 44 roosters fell to the Boss 5's.
Also a few Huns.
The 7's were great for chukar and quail.
I give the Boss shells a good recommendation.
Thanks, BOb |

Confirmed that the fiber wad 1200 fps #7 shells are very purple.
Exactly 100 shells showed up in the bulk pack, and I didn't see any malformed hulls.
I haven't patterned them yet, so I don't have anything more to report. |

Nice. I do still wonder why they copperplate them. Must be marketing because: 1) bismuth is much harder and slicker than lead, and 2) plating on a shot pellet is so thin it may as well not be there (measured in microns).
It seems that Boss is about the most affordable option for factory loaded bismuth these days. I load my own, but only for a damascus barreled Parker 10. Performance of bismuth is good, even if performance per dollar ratio is really low. I use steel in my other guns, but it is worth $1.50 per shot to down geese with the antique once in a while. |
