With the powder shortage I have some Titewad left over from my 12 gauge days. Has anyone used this powder for light 16 gauge 3/4 oz. loads?

A few Titewad recipes listed in the spreadsheets.

PUTZ 463
Thanks for the. Reply, however I wasn’t able to get the spread sheet due to my own computer deficiencies. I did goggle”Titewad and the 16 gauge”and came up with some info. from 2009 discussed on this web site. WOW!! I learned Titewad is a very fast burning powder and some of BP’s load data is questionable. You proved that. I did take time to load up 2 experimental loads
2 3/4 Fiocchi hull F209 A primer, 13 gr. TW, OB16 gas seal, SG16 wad, 297 gr.#9 shot
And a16 OSC. Chronyed at 1113, 1126, and 1145 FPS.

2 1/2 Fiocchi hull, F 209A primer, 13 gr. TW, .70 fiber filler,,SG16 wad, 297 gr.# 9 shot. Chronyed at 1189, 1187,1190 FPS.

Like the 2 1/2” load . How do I figure out if is safe or not???

You're welcome, glad to help. Looking at burn rate charts confirm that Titewad is a powder being about as fast as you'd ever want to use in a shot-shell, right up there with E3. IMO, BPI's load data has proven itself needing to be viewed with skepticism, certainly worth having tested. If wanting to confirm a load's speed, pressure and consistency send a few off to PR's testing lab. I send loads to them a fair amount (lately been revamping all my 10ga Waterfowl loads thanks to an issue discovered with RSI wads) and they are very good at how quickly they turn the work around. Tom Armbrust also does this sort of testing but he uses an outdoor facility and can't/doesn't test in winter or more so "weather permitting" so work sent to him sometimes gets shelved until he's able.

Just got the results back on a couple of 16 ga. Loads I had tested by Precision Reloading.
Fio 2 1/2” case, 13.3 gr. Titewad, Fed 209A , SG 16, BP 716 nitro card over powder,
3/4 oz # 9’s, 6 point crimp.
Average velocity 1174, Std. Dev. 49
Average pressure 5955, Std. Dev. 276

Not very consistent. Could be my reloading technique, or maybe they would just like a few Cheerios. I know my GSP Boo likes them.

Fio 2 3/3” case, 13 gr. Titewad, Fed 209A, SG 16, BP 716 nitro card over powder,
4 Cheerios, BP OS 16 card, 6 Pt. Crimp.
Average velocity 1218, Std Dev. 3
Average pressure 6144, Std Dev. 214

I wouldn’t buy Titewad for 16 ga reloading but I had this laying around and will use it up un these light loads.
