It looks to me like #3 has the straightest grain flow where it counts. If you are going to shoot it quite a bit, I would be looking for straight grain headed into the action. It will take the most abuse.
Good Hunting,

A few photos of my new 12 gauge Venus. Haven't had a chance to take it home yet as we've got a waiting period here in California. Very pleased with how it came out. It's not often that a gun company EXCEEDS your expectations but that's what's happened twice now with two Upland Gun Company orders.
Once I can get this on a scale, I will report back on the weight. It is light, however, and the 12 gauge frame is very small -- almost looks like a 20-gauge frame but I'm told it is the standard Venus frame used for 12s and 16s. |

Thanks, Skeettx ... Not sure why just the thumbnails are showing up, but you can check them out at the URL, zoom in and see the detail, etc. |

Thanks. Build time was just about six months.
Went with the deep relief engraving on the coin finish. Was a little worried about how that would turn out -- but came out much better than I hoped or even imagined. Going to be a fun spring and summer of clays shooting. |

Not seeing anything for some reason. The URL path doesn't look quite right to me. |

bulletin boards and funny and outdated and don't play well a lot of times with picture posting. A link that you're trying to embed as picture must end with .jpg If it ends in anything other than .jpg it won't work. Before the link you need the The forward slash in that indicates the end of the picture.
I went to you link above, then 'right clicked' the picture to 'copy image address' and paste it here.

I finally came up with a solution to getting a painful bruise on the second finger of my right hand. I shot the gun well and had success on clays and live birds, but couldn't put up with the constantly bruise finger.
The first picture shows the solution; an SKB 600 stainless trigger guard from Numrich Arms reshaped and fitted to my POW stocked RFM. Notice how the trigger is much closer to the new guard than the original guard. I just returned from a trip to Georgia for a three day preserve quail hunt where 5 of us were on over a hundred birds a day. No more discomfort from getting my finger banged.
Below is the picture of the factory setup wearing the rubber bumper I used in an attempt to protect my second finger. The real issue is the guard appears to be the same guard as used on the double trigger guns and it really crowds the POW grip.

Well ... I had a chance to get the new RFM Venus 12 gauge on the UPS shipping scale. Granted, this might not be as sensitive as some other scales.
The gun came in at a whopping 5.5 pounds!! |

I find 5 and a half pounds highly unlikely. 6 and a half yes |
